A look at the “Missing Man” flyover at the Memorial Ceremony
L to R: Arriving at Sampson State Park at the traffic circle and its flags and the sailor statue. Workers at the park’s office in the Recreation Building. “The PalTalk Air Crew Bunch” meeting at the SampsonVets Reunion this time (Del Holstein, Harry Vanderham, Bob Schmid, Gus Kilthau, Paul Skinner, and Norm Morency)
The first SampsonVets “SOS Breakfast.” The funny thing was that there was NO SOS. Del Holstein (front, right in the first photo) found this nifty little diner in Ovid, New York, close to Sampson. From then on the SOS Breakfast was held at “Jim and Georgia’s Diner” where we taught them how to make proper SOS and to serve it with a couple of fried eggs on top.

L: Basic trainee flight guidons hung up in the unfinished museum. R: Some of the many memorial bricks already in place in the floor of the museum courtyard
L: The patio outside of the recreation hall was a nice place to sit and to swap “war stories.” R: Inside of the recreation hall at the Saturday evening business meeting and barbecue.
