The Ohio Squadron was formed in 2002 at Marion, Ohio with 28 veterans and guest attending. It was held at Marion again in 2003, with an attendance of 45. Tom Indoe was commander for the first two years, then he resigned to travel. Jay Young was elected as commander and we voted to move the reunion to the Hope Hotel at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Dayton, Ohio. There we could utilize the National Museum of the Air Force; this has proved to be a good decision. Our attendance has increased each year; we have had veterans from 18 different states. The museum is an ever changing place, with memories for all of us. If you have never been to the museum it will be a memorial experience. Every time you go back it will be different with new exhibits. Each year Rev. John Gray has a memorial service at the Sampson Memorial in the Memorial Park.

10th Annual Ohio Reunion held on April 29, 30 and May 1, 2011

Last year’s reunion was held on April 29, 30 and May 1 at the Hope Hotel on Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio.

Attendance was down a little, due to illness, other reunions and the price of gas. Our 1st and 2nd reunions were held in Marion, Ohio, and this was our 8th at the Hope Hotel and we are scheduled to go back this year. Reunion Photos

We decided to change the date of our reunion this year to avoid conflicts with other reunions. It will be held on June 22, 23 and 24 at the Hope. We had several 1st time attendees last year, and many regulars.

Request for speakers for future Ohio Squadron annual reunions

The Ohio Squadron officers would like to survey our members to see if you know of potential speakers, who would be of interest to veterans, who would consent to be on the program at one of our Ohio Squadron reunions. We would like to build a list of potential speakers for future reference.

We are looking for USAF men and women, active duty or retired, Air Guard or Reserves, who have extensive background in their subject and who are comfortable speaking to large groups. Subject matter must be of interest to veterans and their spouses.

Alternative speakers might be something on the order of last year's speaker, who came to us as a historical figure - President Theodore Roosevelt. While this was a departure from our usual program he was informative, entertaining and highly enjoyable.

Who among your acquaintances would you recommend to bring a program at a USAF military reunion?

We can defray travel expense within Ohio.

Thanks for helping us build a file of potential speakers.

John Gray, Ohio Squadron Secretary
